Celebrate Earth Month!
Spring is here and our fellow feathered friends are making their way back home. During the month of April, we're making Wildflower a hospitable place where they can nestle in and raise their family.
APRIL IS EARTH MONTH
We're adjusting our focus to the beauty and color of life and creating a
bird observation area just outside our classroom windows.
Why: In lieu of a large earth day event, we're celebrating the arrival of spring by learning all about birds. During the month of April students and teachers will be building a bird sanctuary near the entrance to Wildflower. This area is a perfect place for kids to look out the window and observe birds naturally.
What: We'll be exploring the colorful world of birds. Themes will cover migration, nesting, flight, bird songs, identification of native species, and more!
WANT TO GET INVOLVED? Below are some ideas.
-
Stay a few extra minutes at pick and help us refill bird feeders with your child.
-
Replace old oranges with new ones (Orioles love the sweet nectar).
-
Donate old birdhouses, feeders or birdbaths to the school.
-
Build your own birdhouse.
-
Handy? Help us build birdhouse stands or squirrel buster feeders.
-
Send bird books or identification cards to school with your child.
-
Donate observation journals or binoculars.
-
Create a "Bird Sanctuary" Sign for the observation area.
-
Bring in window stickers to prevent birds from kissing the windows.
-
Bring in your pet bird for show and tell.
-
The ideas are endless!

Sledding, Cider & Cookies Party - Free Event
DATE: Saturday, Feb. 1 from 9AM-11AM
Wax your sleds and toboggans and get ready for the annual Sledding, Cider & Cookies Party! Multiple runs to choose from. We have runs to fit all skill levels, whether you like a slow leisurely ride or like a little air, we've got you covered.
Tips for Staying Warm:
Avoid cotton. Cotton absorbs sweat and becomes very cold against the skin. Synthetic materials like polypropylene are preferred.
Layer up! Wear multiple thin layers so you can easily unzip or take off when you get hot, then put back on when you take a break.
Start dry. Try to keep snow out of your clothes. Bib snow pants will keep snow away from your waist and gators will keep snow from getting inside your boots.
